Dr. Mahmut F. Akşit

Prof. Dr. Mahmut F. Akşit was born in 1967 in Denizli, Turkey. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Boğaziçi University in 1991. He pursued his academic studies at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, USA, where he earned his M.Sc. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in 1993 and his Ph.D. in 1998. He was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2004 and became a full Professor in 2015.

During his time in the United States, he worked for 10 years at the General Electric Corporate R&D Center, holding various positions including "Consultant Research Engineer," "Senior Researcher," "Static Seals Manager," and finally "Advanced Seals Research Team Leader."

In 2001, Prof. Akşit returned to Turkey and served as the Head of the Department of Energy Systems Engineering at Gebze Institute of Technology. Since 2003, he has continued his academic career at Sabancı University in the Department of Mechatronics Engineering. He has been serving as the General Manager of TEI (TUSAŞ Engine Industries) since December 2013.

In addition to this role, he is the Chairman of the Board of ESAC (Eskişehir Aviation Cluster Association), a member of the Heat Transfer Technical Committee of the International Gas Turbine Institute, and a board member of SAHA Istanbul.

Prof. Akşit has over 30 years of experience in aircraft engines, gas and steam turbines. He holds more than 60 patents published in 16 different countries and has authored nearly 150 scientific works, including articles, papers, and technical reports for organizations such as NASA and NATO.
