Burkay ALAN

Burkay ALAN (Ph.D.) completed his bachelor’s degree in National Defense University Naval Academy Electrical electronics Engineering (BSc, 1992), his Master's Degrees in Beykent University Management Organization (MBA, 2006) and in Istanbul Technical University Maritime Faculty Maritime Transportation Engineering (MSc, 2008), The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TUBITAK)-2214 International Research Fellowship Programme for Ph.D. Students in University of Strathclyde/United Kingdom (2013), and his Ph.D. in Istanbul Technical University Naval Architecture and Marine Sciences Faculty Shipbuilding and Ship Machinery (Ph.D., 2021). He received various trainings, including Command and Control Systems Data Display Training in USA (1995) and Command and Headquarters Officer training at the Naval War College. Throughout his professional career he performed; operational fleet duties under the command of the Turkish Naval Forces (1995-2005), military advisory and managerial duties and lectured in National Defense University and Istanbul Technical University (2005-2015).

Meanwhile he achieved Project Design Consultancy in Defense and Maritime Industry TUBITAK Technology and Innovation Support Programs Presidency (TEYDEB) R&D Projects, and Integrated Electronic Navigation Systems Human Centered System and Subsystem Design Systems Engineering Consultancy duties.

Within the scope of the Support Program for Capacity Building in the Fields of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program ALAN took Mentor Training in TUBITAK TEYDEB. He is also an Advanced Engineering Techniques Mentor and a Business Development Mentor. ALAN is a Founding Member of Turkish Entrepreneurs and Business Mentors Association (TÜGİM). With the invitation of TUBITAK Entrepreneurship Support Group he assumes panelist duties on the subject “Evaluation of Commercialization and Investment Processes”.

Following the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization of Türkiye (KOSGEB) New Entrepreneurship Training, he stepped into Technology Entrepreneurship with KOSGEB New Entrepreneur Supports in Teknopark Istanbul in 2016. He is the Founder, Chairman of the Board and General Manager of ASARTECH R&D Design Engineering Inc. With its distinguished teammates who have High Frequency Electronics competence ASARTECH Inc. is a high-tech R&D, Design and Engineering venture company that performs its activities on the nationalization of critical RF and Microwave Components mainly for Defense and Communication Sectors to reduce foreign dependency.

ALAN, who speaks advanced English, is married, and has one child.
