Captain Altay Altuğ, who graduated from today’s Istanbul Technical University Maritime Faculty in 1952, 1961 In the year up to the Turkish Maritime Plant (TDI Turkey Maritime Organization Inc.) she has worked in passenger and cargo ships. He courageously saved the port workers’ life from a cargo fire on his ship when he was the second officer. He was promoted and commissioned as a port pilot at the Izmir port; Later he was promoted as Chief Pilot of Izmir Port and served until his retirement. Established its first modern pilot station in Izmir on a floating pontoon with VHF radio communication facilities. Meanwhile, he played an important role in the establishment of pilotage services in İzmir Aliağa Refinery. In 1979, he retired with great enthusiasm and entrepreneurship for pilotage and towage services. It acted as a leader and pioneer in order to fulfill the ideals of the unique expertise and services to convert this most contemporary practices in Turkey. Today, Captain Altay Altuğ continues to make the dreams of UZMAR’s president and family a reality.
